Our Story

The fall of the year has always been a special time for me and my family.  The temperature is beginning to cool, the leaves begin their annual change, and all of God’s creation seems to come alive.  Fall is a reminder of all of the things that we are thankful for.

We are blessed to live and hunt in one of the best hunting areas in Louisiana.  Someone with the State had enough foresight to turn Wisconsin Blue deer lose in Corney Bottom.  Little did they know at the time, that the hunting tradition would bring families together, put food on our tables, and create memories that last forever.

When I was a young boy, I was fortunate enough to have been introduced to deer hunting, not too far from Corney Bottom.  When Thanksgiving or Christmas break would roll around, Bill Pendergrass would pick me up in his brown Ford Courier pickup truck and North we would go to the Irby Line to hunt.  He and I shared honey buns, hunting stories, but most of all great memories that he made for a young boy.  Bill knew he was building a lifetime of memories by taking me, but I didn’t understand it at the time.

In 1987, I went on a hunting trip to Del Rio, Texas.  One particular morning, we killed some does and went into town to a meat market. When we exited the truck, the smell of mesquite wood and grilled meat filled our nostrils.  Right beside the meet market was a grill that patrons were welcome to help themselves and try their meat.  It was apparent the pride that the employees of that meat market took in handling and processing the meat, and they were happy to share in the memories that the customers have made.

The process of building the Dubach Deer Factory & Smokehouse has been a dream of mine since 1987.  There have been many renditions of the building and facilities and it is constantly changing.  All of our employees are instilled with the concept that they are the caretakers of our customer’s harvest.  They pay great attention to detail when preparing your game for your table.  We hope that this shows in all of the services we perform for you.
